SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
Each year, Canopy Housing Foundation Western Region provides two scholarships to graduating seniors.
Scholarship applications are reviewed by a panel of Realtors® in Haywood County. The selection panel makes its recommendation for recipients to Haywood County Schools Foundation.
2023 Scholarship Recipients
Payge Burgess is a senior at Tuscola High School with a 4.1 GPA. She is a member of the JROTC. Payge wants to attend Salem College and major in interior design. She is proud to say that she will be the first one in her family to attend college.
Charles Burnette is a senior at Haywood Early College and ranked first in his class with a GPA of 4.78. He wants to attend Western Carolina and become an elementary school teacher with hopes of returning to Haywood Co and teach here.
Grady Glance is a senior at Pisgah High School with a GPA of 4.0. He wants to attend Haywood Community College and earn a degree in Industrial Maintenance. His hope is to stay here in Western NC so he can be close to the mountains he loves. (Grady’s father works at the Canton Paper Mill and will be one of the many impacted by the mill closing later this month.)
