COMMUNITY GRANTS
The Community Grants Program provides financial program support to area nonprofit organizations that address unmet housing needs in Mecklenburg, Iredell and Haywood counties. Launched in 2009, the program awards funds annually to area nonprofits. Applications are rated according to community impact, project feasibility, fiscal strength and Realtor® support. Funding totals may vary depending on availability of funds.

Changed Choices
Received $3,500 to cover the cost of up to five months of home expenses for Re Entry Home, which houses up to six women.
Charlotte Family Housing
Received $3,500 to assist up to five families experiencing homelessness with security deposits and moving costs as they move from transitional shelter to their own apartment.
Community Link
Received $3,000 to connect multiple individuals in Mecklenburg County to a safe haven through the Travelers Aid Program. This program specifically serves the homeless population, victims of domestic violence as well as at-risk persons exiting a local medical program.
Connecting the Gap
Received $3,000 to help address several critical needs for youth (and their caregivers) who are grieving the loss of a parent; these needs include temporary housing, rental assistance, utility assistance and emergency shelter.
Crisis Assistance Ministry
Received $3,000 to provide emergency financial assistance to at-risk families facing eviction or utility disconnection in Mecklenburg County.
Dahlia Grove, Inc.
Received $3,500 to be used for rental assistance for two houses where the organization supports eight women survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and addiction.
Home4Me
Received $2,500 to address the increased housing needs for youth in the foster system and those who have aged out of the foster system, including housing support, Fill-a-Suitcase, and Bed-In-A Bag support.
Mooresville Area Christian Mission
$2,500 to be utilized to address unmet housing needs in Southern Iredell County by providing multiple families with an average of $500 in rental assistance per family.
Project Outpour
Received $3,000 to be utilized to purchase underwear and t-shirts for the shower guests who are homeless and without consistent shelter.
Roof Above
Received $2,000 to provide rental assistance (in the amount of $1,000 per family) for those facing housing insecurities.
Supportive Housing Communities
Received $3,000 to purchase beds for residents who do not currently have access to bed in their home; average cost per bed is estimated to be $166.67 per bed.
Time Out Youth
Received $2,500 to provide stable housing and emergency financial assistance to five homeless members of the LGBTQ community, mostly youth.
Caterpillar Ministries
Received $3,000 to provide rental assistance for up to six families at a cost of $500 per family.
Church World Services - ISF
Received $2,500 to support rental assistance for low-income Latino and immigrant families who are facing financial hardship and housing insecurity.
Feed NC
Received $2,500 to support the Displacement Assistance Program by purchasing soap, laundry detergent, and other hygiene essentials for the 'Hygiene Hub'. Funds will also provide transportation tokens to facilitate access to the facility and clothing essentials such as sock and undergarments.
Hope of Mooresville
Received $2,500 to be applied to the organization's housing program to provide unhoused families with temporary housing while learning the skills necessary to live independently.
Samaritan House
Received $1,500 to support short-term emergency housing and medical respite for homeless patients in Mecklenburg County. Note: Although noted in the application as a need, these funds will not be allowed to support case management costs.
Sigmas of Charlotte Foundation
Received $2,500 to provide financial assistance for housing deposits and rental expenses and to support individuals re-entering the community after incarceration.
Twirl to the World
Received a $2,500 to provide emergency financial assistance for ten families or individuals, at a cost of $250 per unit. All of those receiving assistance are members of the LGBTQ community.
